My husband is from England and I took him here specially for the English breakfast. We had the best experience. The restaurant itself is wonderfully decorated, we loved admiring everything on the walls. The food was authentic and excellent, and the service was so kind. We can't wait to keep coming back!
I met friends for the classic tea lunch. Very enjoyable! A bit pricey it is more money for Christmas. But we had a lovely time.
Tasty English tea. Great option for brunch on a weekend with family. Their black teas are potent and top quality. Terrific customer service.

I'm not a Brit, and I'm not an Expat either. The odd sod about me is that I regularly order takeaway fish & chips for a family in Manchester (Wythenshawe, specifically - and that says much right there - Cosy Cod in Stockport is currently occupying #1 in the list so far). We're working down the list of available places that actually allow delivery as F&C are always best eaten in the establishment fresh, hot and crisp. But times are times - we make do. Deliveroo and Just-Eat both do a great job of fetching the stuff from kilometres away. I personally visit as many fried fish places around So. California as my cardiologist might permit. Fox & Hounds up in Studio City is also fun. But my mainstay here in LA, is right here at the Kings Head. I've found amusing our local issues with "not updated for years, nothing new on the menu, sometimes dodgy service" and think, "...um, have you not remembered places back in the UK for the exact same qualities - it's Tradition in so many little Chippy shoppers." Pubs overseas aren't lively and raucous unless the FC is playing (or a local got a bit too hammered...) Anyway, logs of proper Cod filets are a bit smaller than decades ago due to costs inflating and wages being wages. But still, the fluffy, crispy, puffy batter I've come to love here (smooth outer without fringy bits), nicely steamy insides with a good bite, and plenty of malt vinegar. Chips best requested extra crisp - as they aren't like the Indian and Asian-run F&Cs in the UK that triple fry everything these days. Mushy peas are still nice here. I can't do a standard Guinness these days, but I can do a Guinness Zero in replacement. They celebrate every important UK event, and they still have expats. Pride days. For parking (it's Santa Monica...), it's probably easier to park up in the double-digit avenues and Uber/rail back in - or take the Metro in the first place - it's just easier. Mind the available space counters, the 3rd St. lots are full during the day. Best of all, they still maintain a tiny convenience grocery in the restaurant should you fancy taking home some crumpets, clotted cream, or wine gums and such. I generally can get Quality Street and various crisps at my local Super King or Cost Plus, so this is better for gifty things and tea trinkets or bringing home some bangers or a can of beans for toasties. Have a chat, and close your eyes and it's better than the Disney version - and certainly has much better weather outside.
STILL GOOD FOOD AFTER ALL THESE YEARS I first started frequenting Ye Old Kings Head back in 1986 when I first moved to Culver City. My friends and I would go to Santa Monica on Friday and Saturday evenings to loosen up after a week's work. The inside walls of Ye Olde Kings Head has always been adorned with eclectic paraphernalia and photos of celebrities that have visited in the past. Fast forward 38 years and my life made a lot of twists and turns. Today I returned to Ye Old Kings Head with my wife and a colleague. Although the place has changed and expanded a little the food is still as good as when first ate there with a a lot of changes to the menu. Their signature Fish and Chips still look and smell great after observing other patron's orders. My wife ordered the burger with fries which is still an ample size, juicy with a large portion of fries and for 20 bucks well worth ordering. I ordered the mushroom, chicken pie. The mushroom sauce was delicious and the flaky pie crust on top was an added bonus. It was crispy, buttery and absolutely delicious. My colleague ordered the Cornish Beef Pasty which I had a taste of and it was also really good. The place was pretty empty at noon on Monday and the food came out pretty quick. So my experience years later was absolutely positive and the food is still as good as I remember. If you try any of these dishes you won't be disappointed, but make sure you get the fries and ask for them to be a little bit crispy.
Step through the door, and the California coast fades away, replaced by the warm, rustic charm of a quintessential English pub. Ye Olde King's Head is a Santa Monica gem, tucked just blocks from the beach, serving up authentic British fare that'll transport your taste buds across the pond. As I settled into the cozy, wood-paneled interior, complete with vintage beer signs and plush armchairs, I felt like I'd stumbled into a village pub in the English countryside. The aroma of sizzling back bacon and freshly baked scones wafted from the kitchen, teasing my senses. The English Breakfast - a symphony of eggs, bangers, black pudding, and fried bread - was nothing short of glorious. Each bite a testament to the chef's dedication to traditional flavors. The scones, served with clotted cream and jam, were flaky, buttery perfection. But what truly sets Ye Olde King's Head apart is its warm, welcoming service. Our server was the embodiment of English hospitality - friendly, attentive, and happy to guide us through the menu. If you're craving a taste of Blighty in sunny California, look no further. Ye Olde King's Head is a haven for Anglophiles, foodies, and anyone seeking a genuine pub experience. Pop in for a pint, stay for the warm atmosphere, and leave feeling like you've found a slice of England in the heart of Santa Monica.
